Tricycle, Royal Crescent

This tricycle was made around 1886 by Rudge, one of many bicycle and tricycle makers in the English Midlands.

The front-wheel steering tricycle has a chain drive to the rear wheels. A contracting band brake on the rear axle is operated by a lever on the right side of the wooden grip type handlebars. The wheels are wire spoked with solid rubber tyres. It has semi-direct front steering. The model name is 'Royal Crescent'.
