possibly made in Kirkcaldy
This glazed earthenware mug was possibly made by Methven of Kirkcaldy. It dates from the mid 19th century.
The mug is decorated with two blue sponge-printed flowers and two large pink stylized flowers with blue green leaves.
The Links or Kirkcaldy pottery was established in 1714 and began producing whitewares by the late 18th century. Under the ownership of David Methven it became one of the largest and most successful Scottish potteries.
