This heavy duty tool was found at Balcraig in Wigtownshire. It could have been used as some kind of agricultural tool perhaps. Because it is a stray find, and is of a simple shape, it is very hard to date.

The tool has a blade at each end and a central shafthole.

Simple stone tools were used for a long period, even after metal became available.
