Push-up 'dancing skeleton' toy, for Hallowe'en celebrations

This glow-in-the-dark dancing skeleton toy is one of a range of inexpensive items sold for Hallowe'en (Halloween) celebrations at the turn of the millennium. According to popular 'traditional' Hallowe'en beliefs, the dead leave their graves and dance on 31 October.

This 'dancing skeleton' toy consists of a moveable glow-in-the-dark body on a black base. By pushing up the inside of the base, parts of the skeleton can move.

The 'horror show' paraphernalia associated with Hallowe'en night celebrations in 1990s Britain reflect an Americanised, Hollywood-influenced version of the traditional All Hallows Eve festival - itself a mixture of Christian and popular practices.
