Bowl (1 of 2)

This maiolica bowl was made around 1524 at Faenza in Italy.

The bowl is painted with a border of grotesques in opaque white on blue. In the centre in polychrome is a shield of arms, probably the arms of Altoriti and Soderini. (Bindo Altoriti married Fiammetta Soderini in 1511.)
