This maiolica dish was made in 1872 in Rome. It was painted by Torquato Castellani.

The dish is painted in the centre with a griffin in blue on a spotted yellow ground, and with a polychrome border of foliage. It is inscribed 'TC' (for Torquato Castellani) and '1872 Roma'.
