Vase

This glass vase dates from 1977. It was designed by Bjorn Weckstrom and made by the Nuutajarvi Glassworks in Finland.

The vase is made of clear colourless glass with a turquoise-blue interior painted with lustrous silver-grey bands. The design is called 'Arabian Knight'. The vase has the diamond-engraved mark 'Bjorn Weckstrom Nuutajarvi Natsjo'.

Since the end of World War II, the national design organisations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have collaborated with joint exhibitions and prizes to promote modern functional design. This resulted in a characteristic 'Scandinavian Style' which was a major influence on world taste.
