Madeira glass
Add to album

This madeira glass of clear colourless glass dates from 1957. It was designed by Bent Severin and made by Holmegaards Glassworks of Fensmark in Denmark.

The madeira glass has a thin waist with a conical stem containing an air bubble. The design is called 'Princess'.

Since the end of World War II, the national design organisations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have collaborated with joint exhibitions and prizes to promote modern functional design. This resulted in a characteristic 'Scandinavian Style' which was a major influence on world taste.
