Candlestick

This candlestick of amber-coloured glass dates from 1960. It was designed by Nanny Still and made by Riihimaen Lasioy at Riihimaki in Finland.

The cylindrical candlestick has a wide flat horizontal top. It bears the diamond-engraved mark 'NANNY STILL RIIHIMAEN LASIOY'.

Since the end of World War II, the national design organisations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have collaborated with joint exhibitions and prizes to promote modern functional design. This resulted in a characteristic 'Scandinavian Style' which was a major influence on world taste.
