Vase

This clear glass vase was designed by Per Lutken in 1956 and made in 1963 by Holmegaards Glassworks of Fensmark in Denmark.

The vase has wheel-engraved decoration depicting a kneeling negress with a mirror. It has the engraved marks 'HOLMEGAARD', '15391', '{ }', '2' and '5'.

Since the end of World War II, the national design organisations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have collaborated with joint exhibitions and prizes to promote modern functional design. This resulted in a characteristic 'Scandinavian Style' which was a major influence on world taste.
