Decanter

This clear glass decanter was designed in 1929 by Edward Hald and made in 1960 by Aktiebolaget Orrefors Glasbruk of Sweden.

The decanter has wheel-engraved decoration depicting the Biblical story of 'Susanna and the Elders'. It is marked 'Orrefors. H 1230. G, 8. R P'.

Since the end of World War II, the national design organisations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have collaborated with joint exhibitions and prizes to promote modern functional design. This resulted in a characteristic 'Scandinavian Style' which was a major influence on world taste.
