This 'Dart 506' aero engine was made in 1953 by Rolls Royce Ltd. It was used to power the transport Vickers Viscount airliner, Britain's most successful post-war passenger aircraft. The Dart was the world's first turboprop engine to enter service mounted in commercial aircraft, and was one of the most successful.

The 12-cylinder, 490-horsepower engine is marked 'ROLLS ROYCE LTD, ENGINE DART 506 SERIAL NO 1166, MAX RATING AT I.C.A.N. SEA LEVEL'. It has attached from a Vickers Viscount four-engined airliner, the forward cowling and four-bladed propeller.
