Door handles & tirling pins

Tirling pins were fitted on town house doors. They consisted of a ring and a serrated rod, along which the ring could be rattled. These combined door handles and tirling pins come from Berwickshire. They are made of iron, and the one on the left is attached to wooden board. They date from the 17th century.
