Gate finials
Add to album

These two wrought iron gate finials were made by the Edinburgh ironworks firm of Thomas Hadden. They date from the late 19th or early 20th century.

The finials are shaped like ears of wheat.

Important commissions were vital for firms like Hadden's who opened for business in 1901 at Silvermills Lane in Edinburgh. Work would be ordered by architects and private customers.
