These two pear-shaped pewter measures, one for a half pint (left), the other for a pint, were made in the late 18th or early 19th century by William Scott, a pewterer based in Edinburgh's West Bow.

Both measures have a crown and 'Imperial' on top of the lid, and `W. Scott, Edinr.' inside the lid. The pint measure has excise marks for Peebles and Edinburgh, the half pint for Edinburgh. Scratched on the base of the half pint is 'PERTH 1923'.

There were at least two pewterers called William Scott working in the West Bow in Edinburgh in the late 18th and early 19th century.
