This detail shows the mark of the Glasgow potters, Britannia Pottery Company Limited. It is on the base of a transfer-printed earthenware sauce boat, dating from around 1920.

The mark consists of a seated figure of Britannia contained within a circle, surrounded by the company name 'BRITANNIA POTTERY COY Ltd/GLASGOW'. Above, is the pattern name 'MOYEN', below, 'MADE IN Gt BRITAIN'.

James Fleming became managing partner of the Britannia Pottery and from 1896, it was known as Cochran and Fleming. James's son Arnold J Fleming took over as sole partner in 1911 until he sold it to the Britannia Pottery Company Ltd in 1920.
