Sauce boat (detail)
Add to album

This detail shows the company mark on the base of a transfer-printed earthenware sauce boat, possibly made by Keeling and Company of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. The sauce boat dates from the late 19th century.

The mark consists of a ribbon with the pattern name 'KENT'. Underneath are the initials 'K & Co', possibly for Keeling and Company.

Keelings are still based in Stoke-on-Trent today. They are wholesalers of ceramics, bone china, pottery, crystal glass and fancy goods.
