Boy's kimono, detailThis underkimono was probably made for the celebration of the boys' festival annually on May 9th. The detail shows the handspun silk with resist dyed pattern and the woven silk with its kasuri, tiedyed threads before weaving pattern. The blue and white pattern of a broken trellis design with scattered patterns is done by tie dying the weft threads before weaving. A double kasuri can be obtained by tie dyeing both weft and warp threads. The resist stencil design is on handspun silk. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
