Bronze medal (reverse) of Prince Henry, Cardinal York

This is the reverse of a bronze medal of Prince Henry, Cardinal York, the younger brother of Prince Charles Edward Stewart. The medal was issued in 1788 to assert Henry's right to the throne after Charles's death.

Bronze mule medal of Prince Henry, Cardinal York, on his claim to the throne, obv. by F. Cropanese, rev. by G. Hamerani, 1788

Although he called himself 'Henry IX', Henry made no attempt to claim the crown, recognising that hopes of a Stewart restoration had finally faded.
