Add to album

This is the reverse of a white metal medal commemorating the International Exhibition of Industry, Science and Art held in Edinburgh in 1886. The medal was made by a Peter Westray.

The reverse is engraved with Edinburgh landmarks. The inscription reads 'PETER WESTRAY MANUFACTURER OF HISTORICAL SCOTTISH JEWELLERY/'OLD EDINBURGH' AND 28 FREDRICK STREET EDINBURGH'.

Edinburgh hosted international exhibitions in 1886 and 1907, and Glasgow in 1888 and 1901. These were large events where Scottish produce, from railway engineering to pottery, vied with international exhibits.
