Medal (reverse) commemorating the Glasgow International Exhibition

This is the reverse of a white metal medal commemorating the Glasgow International Exhibition of 1901. The medal was issued by S.M. Wylie & Co. of Glasgow.

The reverse bears the heads in profile of the Duke and Duchess of Fife with laurels on either side. It is inscribed 'OPENED BY DUKE & DUCHESS OF FIFE MAY 2ND' and, below, 'S.M. WYLIE & CO. GLASGOW'.

Edinburgh hosted international exhibitions in 1886 and 1907, and Glasgow in 1888 and 1901. These were large events where Scottish produce, from railway engineering to pottery, vied with international exhibits.
