Colour woodblock print, ukiyo-e

Print from an album of 106 prints which include 7 prints from the same untitled Genji set as this one. Each has a panel containing a short poem relating to the sound of an insect, animal or bird. They are signed Toyokuni and published by Iseya kanekichi.

The print is titled Suzumushi no Koye Furu (hearing the sound of the cicada). Prince Gengi is in bed. A lady presents him with a lacquer box and the other is covering her ears. The censor is aratame and the print is dated Tiger 9-1854.
