Colour woodblock print, ukiyo-e

Print in album of 100 prints from the series Hyaku-nin isshu esho (pictorial extracts from the hundred poets). The Title and text appear on a scroll, and the print is signed Toyokun II changing name from Kunisada. Published by Sano-ya kihei.

This print shows a girl seated at her writing table mixing ink in preparation to writing on a set of poem cards. A koto is placed on a table behind her. The poet, no 28, Minamoto no Muneyuki Ason and poem is shown on a playing card.
