Colour woodblock print, ukiyo-e

Triptych illustrating a scene from the Kabuki theatre by Kunisada. The prints are signed Toyokuni and published by Ise-ya Kanekichi. The engraver is take and the censor aratame dated to Dragon 4=1856.

This triptych shows an interior scene with actors playing the roles of left to right, Segawa of Matsubaya, about to enter through the shoji, Tobi. Jurokichi seated watching her and Go-I-ya Kyonosuke seated writing, the latter seen in this detail.
