Colour woodblock print, ukiyo-e

Print in album of 105 prints made of paper printed with colours. This print is by Kuniyoshi, from the series: Imayo Kiku-zoroi (Modern range of chrysanthemums). It is signed Cho-o-ro Kuniyoshi and published by Iba-ya Kyubei, with the censor mark, mura.

This print is titled, Hakkario-kiku. The title panel in the top left-hand corner is bordered by chrysanthemums after the series of prints. The subject is a seated lady preparing ink by rubbing an inkstick on an inkstone with a little water.
