Banknote (back), One pound, issued by British Linen Bank

This banknote for one pound sterling was issued by the British Linen Bank. It is dated 3 August 1916.

The back of the note has a design featuring the bank's symbol, the seated figure of Pallas.

The British Linen Company started issuing notes in 1747 and by 1800 was one of the three most important banks in Scotland. It merged with the Bank of Scotland in 1970.
