Telescope (detail)
This is a detail of a brass telescope probably made in the English Midlands. The telescope was retailed by George Lowdon, a scientific instrument maker and retailer based in Dundee. The detail shows the telescope's barrel end plate.
The refracting telescope's barrel end plate is engraved 'LOWDON,/ DUNDEE'.
George Lowdon produced a range of optical and philosophical instruments, including refracting telescopes, theodolites and sympiesometers.
