Rapier Blades

These three bronze rapier blades are part of a hoard containing around a dozen rapier blades found at Drumcoltran in Kirkcudbrightshire. They were buried sometime between 1500 and 1150 BC.

Hoards consist of objects deposited in the ground at one time. Some contain objects of religious importance, buried without any intention of recovery. Others contain objects valued for commercial worth or status, deposited for safety.
