Measures, used in burgh of Dunbar, East Lothian
Add to album

To ensure fair trade, burghs each kept a set of standard weights and measures against which those in commercial use could be checked. These bronze measures are part of the set used from 1826 in the burgh of Dunbar in East Lothian.

The largest measure is a bushel (36.4 litres), followed by a gallon (4.55 litres), a quart (1.136 litres), a pint (.568 litres), a half-pint (.284 litres), and a gill (.142 litres).
