Banknote (back), One pound, issued by National Bank of Scotland

This is the back of a one pound banknote, issued by the National Bank of Scotland on 15 May 1924.

In the centre of the note is a view of Edinburgh with Princes Street on the right and the castle on the horizon on the left.

The National Bank of Scotland was the first of the Scottish banks to open a branch in London, which it did in 1864. Following a merger in 1959, it became part of the largest banking company in Scotland - the National Commercial Bank of Scotland Ltd.
