Made in Edinburgh

Silver sugar basin
Add to album

This silver sugar basin was made in 1879-80 by S. Gordon Guild, a silversmith in Edinburgh. It is part of a three-piece tea set.

The two small handles on either side of the basin have been made to look like wood. The panel underneath the left handle contains a picture of a Chinaman in a garden.

From the purely decorative to the expensively practical, silver design was inspired by many different sources.
