Thistle cup made in Edinburgh, 1703-04
Add to album

This is the side view of a silver thistle cup made in 1703-4 by George Scott, a silversmith in Edinburgh. Thistle cups, so called because their bowls resemble a thistle head, were unique to Scotland.

The cup has a plain moulded band around the body and an 's' shaped handle.

Thistle cups occur in a variety of sizes and were made in most areas where silversmiths were working.
