Teapot commemorating the Glasgow International Exhibition
Add to album

This gilded teapot commemorating the Glasgow International Exhibition of 1888 was possibly made at Alloa in Clackmannanshire.

This side of the teapot has a design incorporating a coat-of arms and the words 'International Exhibition of Industry, Science and Art/Glasgow/Opened by HRH The Prince of Wales'.

Edinburgh hosted international exhibitions in 1886 and 1907, and Glasgow in 1888 and 1901. These were large events where Scottish produce, from railway engineering to pottery, vied with international exhibits.
