Moulds for communion tokens

This picture shows how the moulds from Coupar Angus Relief Church would have been used to cast communion tokens.

One of two brass communion token moulds of Coupar Angus Relief Church, rectangular in shape and inscribed COUPAR / ANGUS

In the 18th century many congregations broke away from the established church on points of principle, mainly concerning choice and appointment of ministers. One of the earliest succession groupings was the Relief Church, founded in 1761.
