Coin (Reverse), half-groat, from reign of Robert II

This is the reverse of a silver half-groat minted at Perth, between 1371 and 1390, during the reign of Robert II. The coin was worth two pence Scots.

The reverse has a single long cross with a five-pointed mullet in each angle. The Latin inscription translates as: 'God is my Defender and my Redeemer. Town of Perth'.

The first Stewart king, Robert was the grandson of Robert Bruce and nephew of David II. His coins are similar in weight standard and general appearance to the latest issues of David II. His mints were at Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee.
