This is the back of a receipt issued by the Bank of Scotland in 1746.

Receipt by David Scott, Treasurer of the Bank of Scotland, for the sum of £15 from Charles Elphinstone as yearly interest on a bond of £300, Edinburgh, 27 May 1746

The Bank of Scotland is Scotland's oldest bank and was founded in 1695 in Edinburgh. It is the only bank to have been set up by the old Scottish Parliament before the Union of Parliaments in 1707.
