Fan (Reverse), (Detail)

Reverse of folding fan showing detail of ivory sticks. The backing of gauze stuck on may be part of a restoration in the 1920s when the fan acquired a new box.

The sticks show holes placed in a decorative way which would have been used for sewing them to the lace leaf.
