Fan (reverse)

Reverse of folding fan with double leaf of chicken skin, sticks and guards of carved, pierced and painted ivory and mother of pearl.

Painted with a scene of Venus reclining on a bank with cupid. The sticks are painted with bagpipes and baskets of fruit and flowers.

Used as the backing leaf to an earlier leaf being remounted.
