Top of a fan

Carved ivory head of a folding fan with the ends of the mother of pearl guards and the paste rivet heads.

The rounded ends of the sticks have been further embellished by carving lines radiating from a central point.

This shows the attention to detail which some fan sticks and guards of the 18th century display.
