Detail of a silver coffee pot

This is a detail from a coffee pot that was part of a silver tea service made in India between around 1896 and 1906. The tea service was given to the Rev. Robert Dewar in 1906 on his retirement from a United Free Church in Calcutta in India.

The detail shows the lid of the coffee pot which has a handle in the form of a figure sitting on an elephant.

At the United Free Church in Calcutta, Rev. Robert Dewar ministered to the European population of the city.
