Detail of a silver teapot

This is a detail from a teapot that was part of a silver tea service made in India between around 1896 and 1906. The tea service was given to the Rev. Robert Dewar in 1906 on his retirement from a United Free Church in Calcutta in India.

The detail shows the head at the base of the teapot's spout.

At the United Free Church in Calcutta, Rev. Robert Dewar ministered to the European population of the city.
