Denison smock, for use by British airborne troops during World War II

This is a 'Denison smock', developed for use by British airborne troops during World War II. The smock was the first use of patterned camouflage clothing by the British army. It was designed to give maximum warmth to the paratrooper in the air, and freedom of movement on the ground. It was named after the officer of the British airborne forces who designed it but was largely copied from similar smocks worn by German paratroops.
