Recruiting poster, for Third Foot Guards

This printed recruiting poster for the 'Third Foot Guards' dates from between 1808 and 1816.

Scots Guards - Recruiting poster of the "Third or Royal Scotch Regiment of Bodyguards, Captain Aitchison Recruiting", 1808 - 1816

The poster seeks non-commissioned officers, such as lance-corporals, in an attempt not only to induce gullible recruits to join a regiment apparently devoid of NCOs because of their being so frequently promoted, but also to induce Scotsmen to join a regiment, with the veiled promise of a guaranteed promotion to NCO status.
