Motor car, Morris Mini-Minor

This Morris Mini-Minor motor car was built in 1959 at Cowley in the West Midlands and first registered in Galashiels. A very early example - around the 500th one ever built - it was driven up from factory to be displayed in the showrooms of Purves of Galashiels on the day of the official launch of the Mini.

The blue painted saloon car has an 850 cc engine and the original black and grey seats and fleck trim. The registration number is LS7717.

The Mini was designed by Alex Issigonis. It has become a key 20th-century design icon.
