Jacket, probably of Glasgow Sharpshooters

This jacket is believed to be of the Glasgow Sharpshooters, a part-time unit of the 1820s.

Ayrshire Rifles (probably) - Green jacket of rifle pattern

Although the war with France ended in 1815, volunteer units were raised again to support the government in the political confrontation that culminated in the 'Radical War' of 1820. These short-lived units were dominated by prosperous, property-owning Scots. When they believed their political and economic interests to be under threat, the Volunteers were often as ready to be used against their fellow Scots as against a foreign invader.
