Model, of steamship Harpathian

This wooden model is of the steamship 'Harpathian', a general cargo vessel built in 1930 at Sunderland by Bartram & Sons Ltd for the National Steamship Co Ltd. 'Harpathian' carried general cargoes under the management of J & C Harrison Ltd of London. The model is built to a scale of 1:96.

The ship's engines were built by the North Eastern Marine Engineering Co Ltd of Sunderland.

'Harpathian' served during World War II until she was torpedoed and sunk between the Canaries and Cape Verde Islands on 22 April 1941.
