This flintlock revolving holster pistol is said to have been made in the Bohemian spa town of Karlsbad (now Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic). It dates from between around 1730 and 1740.

The pistol has a walnut stock, a barrel inlaid with gold, and heavily engraved brass trigger-guards and butt-mounts.

Karlsbad became famous in the eighteenth century for small souvenirs such as folding knives, forks and spoons. These souvenirs were decorated with gold and silver, in the same way as guns produced in the area at that time for the Western and Turkish markets.
