Brooch and pendant, by Graham Crimmins

This brooch and pendant were made from titanium and silver by the Scottish artist Graham Crimmins in 1980. The designs were inspired by the Scottish landscape.

The brooch consists of a round silver frame and blue titanium centre showing a landscape pattern. The colour was produced using a gas blow-torch. The round titanium pendant has a silver back plate and chain. The purple and blue colours were produced by electrical anodising.

During the 1980s the Scottish Development Agency purchased a number of hand-crafted items for its Scottish Crafts Collection. The aim of the collection was to inform the public of craft production in Scotland through touring exhibitions and education programmes. When the Scottish Craft Council was wound up, the collection was transferred to the National Museums of Scotland.
