Case, for Koran

This brass case is for holding a small manuscript copy of the Koran. It was made in Iran in 1707.

The case has a relief arabesque design on the front, and is engraved with invocations to Allah, Muhammad and Ali and other religious inscriptions on the back, sides and flap.
