Bicycle, Deluxe M2

This 'Deluxe M2' bicycle was made in 1965 by Moulton of Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire in England. The Moulton was the first major redesign of the bicycle since the safety bicycle was introduced in the 1880s. It can be considered the first truly unisex design. It was designed by Alex Moulton who was also responsible for the suspension on the Mini motor car.

This small wheel bicycle incorporates a rubber in compression front suspension, and compression and sheer rear suspension. The bicycle is fitted with a Sturmey-Archer 4 speed rear hub and a Middlemore saddle. The frame is painted Polychromatic Midnight Blue and the mudguards, chain-guard and handlebars are chromed. A plate riveted on the head tube is marked ' M.M. Moulton Bicycles ...'
